CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT
- Meet with client to define their needs, aesthetic preferences, and scope of project
-
Research various design styles and periods as necessary for the project, whether a remodel or new construction
SPACE PLANNING / AutoCAD
- Take inventory of existing furniture to be re-used (if any)
- Conduct field survey including measurements and photographs
of existing space
- Create computer generated drawings using AutoCAD to develop
space plans, furniture installation drawings, construction documents,
detailed elevations and plan views of millwork and/or built-in cabinetry
SCHEDULING
- Work with vendors to put together a schedule of ordering, delivery
& installation in coordination with contractor's schedule
BUDGET
- Develop cost estimate based on client's budget (including
items designed or specified by designer, labor, materials)
SPECIFICATION & PROCUREMENT
- Select and purchase architectural materials, finishes, furniture,
window treatments, bedding, area rugs, carpet, paint, artwork, framing,
custom furniture, re-upholstery, accessories, etc.
- Color consultations
INTERFACE WITH VENDORS & CONTRACTORS
- Correspond with general contractors, electricians, painters,
data/communications specialists, building managers, installers to assist
in design process and review scheduling and critical ship dates to keep
the project on schedule
